Arrest this man, he speaks in tongues!
I was looking forward to a lot of excitement but I hadn't really planned what happened on the stag do in Germany...
As planned, we flew out to Cologne on the Sunday morning. Upon arrival, due to the delayed flight, we were quite keen to get to the stadium as soon as possible. Two train journeys later we were there stood outside the venue for that night's World Cup group match - Portugal v Angola.
With only 4 tickets and 7 men, we knew what we had to do - look for tickets on sale. Half an hour before kick off we were set and we all entered the stadium to enjoy the match. Except that two of us, Rob and I, had to leave 5 minutes into the match!
The police told us the tickets we bought were stolen and they consequently took our details and asked us to leave the ground. We watched the remainder of that match in a local bar, luckily we had actually witnessed the only goal whilst in the stadium ;)
At the end of the game, as arranged beforehand, we met up with the rest of the party and explained our misfortunes. But as we made for the tram to get back to the city centre, we spotted our good old friends, the touts!
I ran after them and found them waiting at another tram stop. There were two men who at this moment in time I really wanted to punish for their crimes. Instead, I did the sensible thing and asked a policeman to arrest them. After this sequence of events we were taken to the central police station where we were interviewed and gave our official statements. crazy!
