Football Frenzy
About time I headed back home, and I'm glad I did for the weekend. Not least to see Coventry secure their third win of the season, against Luton, 1-0 at the Ricoh Arena. The performance was not convincing although there is hope and I can't see us going down if we continue to battle and produce chances as we did in the second half.
Ok, usually this year I make a prediction or two. Here I'll give you my two cents. If I were a betting man I'd put my money on Chelsea to win the Premiership (obvious, you might say) but I believe they could even go the season unbeaten. Especially when the contenders are on such bad form.
The Champions League can also be captured by the Blue Londoners - I think they'll make the finals this year. Milan have strengthened but I think some of their players are getting past it. Though you can't knock a midfield featuring Kaka, Gattuso, Pirlo and Seedorf! Bayern aren't bad but I don't fancy them, Ballack is too important for them.
Lyon are football's worst kept secret, could make the semis. Liverpool will not repeat their heroics of last season, lady luck has surely run dry. Barcelona have started well and should make the last eight, but I'm going to dismiss their rivals Madrid at this point, on the basis that they still can't defend or play as a team. I'd expect Juve, Inter, Man Utd and Arsenal to get to the knockouts but I'm tipping Udinese to do well in their first UCL outing; though I think the eventual winners will be Chelsea, Milan or Lyon.
